Germany - Magdeburg to Minden

The different coloured columns that appear to be holding up statues high above the apse are made from marble porphyry and granite. They were removed from buildings in the Italian town of Ravenna, for use in the original apse of the Magdeburg Cathedral. That is why they don't match in colour.
